Arthur Rimbaud secondary school from Amiens is an accessible and inclusive establishment, offering a wide range of courses and activities to encourage the development of each pupil, while taking into account the specific needs of pupils with disabilities or learning difficulties.

 

The student body:

- Pupils: In general, the secondary school has around 430 pupils, spread over several year groups from Year 7 to Year 9.

- Teachers: The academic staff is generally made up of around 40 to 50 teachers, specialising in different subjects to supervise the pupils.

- Staff: The establishment also employs school life staff, education counsellors, administrative staff, as well as maintenance and security staff, bringing the total number of staff to around 60 to 80.

Courses offered: Arthur Rimbaud secondary school offers a general education based on the common core of knowledge and skills, including the following subjects: French, Mathematics, Life & Earth Sciences (SVT), Physics & Chemistry, Technology, History & Geography, Latin, Modern Languages - English is generally offered as a first language, and Spanish, Italian or German as a second language, Physical Education and Sport (EPS), Plastic Arts. There are also opportunities for smaller classes to enable better monitoring of pupils. Various sections are offered: Padel Tennis Sports Section; Bilingual Class (English and German); American International Section; Orchestra Class.

 

Special arrangements

Arthur Rimbaud secondary school offers specific arrangements to meet the diverse needs of pupils:

 ULIS - Localised Unit for School Inclusion: Aimed at pupils with disabilities, the ULIS provides adapted teaching while promoting inclusion. Pupils benefit from personalised support, with a timetable that combines lessons within the ULIS and lessons in ordinary classes for social integration. The aim of this programme is to develop the autonomy and the social and academic skills of pupils with disabilities.

EHPI (Pupils with High Intellectual Potential): This programme targets pupils with high intellectual potential, in order to offer them learning opportunities that meet their specific needs. EHPI pupils benefit from enriched activities, discussion groups and special support to promote their intellectual and creative development. Multidisciplinary projects and specific workshops can be organised to stimulate their curiosity and interest in various subjects, while enabling them to bond with each other.

UPE2A Educational Unit for Newly Arrived Non-French-Speaking Students): UPE2A is intended for non-French-speaking students who have recently arrived in France. This programme aims to facilitate their academic and social integration by offering them intensive French language instruction, as well as courses adapted to each student's academic level. UPE2A pupils benefit from personalised monitoring and support in their integration process, enabling them to access subjects taught in mainstream classes as soon as their language level allows.

Activities on offer: The school also encourages a wide range of extracurricular activities and extracurricular commitments:

- Clubs and workshops: literature, visual arts, music, science, theatre and robotics, allowing pupils to develop their passions.

- Sports: the college participates in the physical education requirements, as well as in inter-college sports competitions.

- Outings and trips: educational excursions, cultural visits, as well as language trips for language classes.

- School support: Support classes and homework workshops are organised after school for pupils with difficulties.
