BL7 – Austria

We are a commercial vocational school based in Linz, Upper Austria. Our focus is on

retail, wholesale and medical product trade. Around 35 teachers teach at BS Linz 7

and support between 800 and 900 students every year. Our students come from both

the city and the surrounding region. We offer a modern, functional learning

environment that promotes high-quality education.

Another focus of our work is integrative vocational training for apprentices. This

means that our staff not only support technical vocational training through theoretical

classroom instruction but also work closely with the companies where our students

receive practical training. Sustainability is a top priority for us. We encourage our staff to use environmentally friendly means of transport when visiting trainees and promote similar habits among

our students. We also attach great importance to sustainable practices in the

workplace.

Our school is strongly and increasingly committed to sustainability and resource

conservation, in line with current developments in the retail sector. Sustainability is

embedded in our curriculum (development of sustainable business practices, fair

trade and recycling for retail professions). We actively raise awareness of this issue

among both students and staff.

Our broad network of local retailers and wholesalers enables effective dissemination

of the project results, with the aim of sharing these results and new approaches to

sustainability education in all areas of trade. Participation in the ECOSTAR project offers our students an opportunity to learn together, collaborate and develop empathy and practical skills. At the same time, it

contributes to sustainable development in their local environment. In addition, our

institutional expertise is enriched through digital and practical learning.

Both our staff and our students contribute their knowledge to take meaningful daily

action in response to Europe's environmental challenges.

We are convinced that the ECOSTAR project will strengthen our teaching practices,

enhance student learning and have a positive impact within our school, throughout

Linz and Upper Austria as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainable

development.
